Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Token Usage Tally is developed and operated by Vibe2Viable ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"), a sole proprietorship. Token Usage Tally is a macOS utility that helps Claude Code users understand their token usage and associated costs. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how it handles it.

2. Data We Collect

Token Usage Tally collects no personal data whatsoever. There are no user accounts, no sign-up, no login, and no mechanism by which we receive any information about you or your usage.

The app reads token usage metadata from Claude Code session files stored locally on your Mac. It reads only numeric token counts and model identifiers — it does not read, parse, transmit, or store the content of your Claude conversations.

3. Local Data Storage

To provide its core functionality, Token Usage Tally creates and maintains a local SQLite database on your Mac. This database is stored in your application's support directory (typically ~/Library/Application Support/Token Usage Tally/) and contains only:

• Token counts (input, output, cache read, cache write) per session
• Model identifiers (e.g., "claude-sonnet-4-5")
• Timestamps derived from the session files
• Derived cost estimates based on fetched pricing data

This data never leaves your device. It is stored solely to power the charts and usage summaries displayed in the app. Deleting the app removes this database.

4. Network Requests

Token Usage Tally makes exactly one type of network request: it fetches model pricing data from LiteLLM's publicly available pricing file hosted on GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com). This request:

• Is made to a public URL — no authentication or API key is involved
• Contains no user data, no device identifiers, and no personal information
• Is used solely to display accurate cost estimates for your token usage
• Is governed by GitHub's standard data handling for public file requests

No other network requests are made. We do not operate any backend server that the app communicates with.

5. File System Access

Token Usage Tally reads JSONL session files from your ~/.claude/ directory. This access is granted explicitly by you when you first launch the app — macOS will prompt you to grant permission before the app can read that directory.

The app reads only the token usage metadata fields within those files. It does not read, copy, transmit, or store the human or assistant message content from your Claude sessions. Your conversations remain entirely private.

You can revoke this file access permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders.

6. Third-Party Services

Token Usage Tally does not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash reporting services, social media frameworks, or tracking libraries.

The only external resource the app accesses is the publicly available LiteLLM model pricing JSON file on GitHub, as described in Section 4. This is a read-only fetch of a public file and does not involve any account, API key, or data submission.

We may receive anonymized, aggregated statistics from Apple (such as download counts) through App Store Connect. These statistics do not identify individual users and cannot be linked to you or your device.

7. Data Sharing

Because we collect no personal data, we have nothing to share or sell. We do not share your information with:

• Advertisers or marketing companies
• Data brokers
• Other app developers
• Any third parties whatsoever

8. Children's Privacy

Token Usage Tally is not intended for or directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App.

Because we collect no personal data from any user, there is no information to identify, collect, or store from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will note them in the App Store release notes.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
